The green building industry in India is less than a decade old. There is a lack of industry experience and a general lack of understanding and agreement on the added costs to make a new building “green”.  Some sources have claimed that there is no additional cost, however various studies have targeted a typical premium for GREEN BUILDING certified projects at 2%–15% of the base building cost, with the high end including a lot of on-site renewable energy generation.
